Chester U12’s win their 4th Cheshire Cup in 5 years

Chester U12 won the Cheshire cup tournament at Caldy on Sunday – in a very competitive / hard fought tournament – with a number of very able sides present

In the pool games, we had a hard first match versus Caldy – with some great rugby played between two very even teams – score 0-0. In the remaining pool games we beat Northwich 26 – 0 and Winnington Park 12-0. As a result we ended up runners up in the Pool to Caldy (on point difference) – and went through to the quarters where we met a massive Crewe team - we played some brilliant rugby and triumphed 21-7

We played a resilient Macc side in the semis which resulted in 0-0 draw but luckily went through on superior points scored previously in the tournament.

The final was very close – with Altrincham scoring first to go into a 7-0 lead. Christian Tighe scored a try in the dying moments and Charlie Craven converted it to level the game – final score 7-7 – to share the title with Altrincham.

We have now won 4 Cheshire cups in 5 years – with our only blip last year being eliminated at semi final stage on points difference. We haven’t lost a game in these tournaments in 5 years / 30 games – an amazing achievement !!
