Chester Gladiators were formed in 2008 and compete in the Impact Sports RL Merit League, a competition dedicated to clubs outside of the sports traditional heartlands. At the end of our debut season we were named as the RL Merit League Club of the Year in recognition of our efforts both on and off the field.

The Gladiators are always keen to hear from any prospective players or volunteers and wherever possible we will assist our volunteers in developing their knowledge and skills by organising training course and contributing to the cost of obtaining relevant qualifications, for example UKCC approved coaching certificates.

We are launching a junior section in 2009 with the support of our local professional club Warrington Wolves and we are committed to providing a welcoming environment for players, volunteers and supporters whatever their level of experience.

Training

During our regular season we train at Chester RUFC on a Thursday evening, timings may change subject to the light. Throughout the off-season we continue to train at the University of Chester astroturf every Monday between 6.00PM and 7.00PM.

Games

Rugby League is now regarded as a summer sport and as such our season runs from late April until early September. The nature of the league in which we play means that we are free to organise as many fixtures as we feel necessary.

Home matches are played at Chester RUFC, normally on a Saturday afternoon.

Cost

At the start of each season all players and officials are required to pay an annual membership fee which covers insurance costs. Modest weekly match fees are also payable to help towards the cost of pitch hire and match officials.
